EXPLORING RELATIONSHIPS

ESSENTIAL CONCEPTS

  • Proof involves showing that something must be (or is always) true. It is different from showing a few examples that seem to verify your claim, and often involves reasoning from known facts or definitions.

  • Diagramming can be a useful way to communicate clearly. In geometry, diagrams are not “accurate” pictures. They use careful labeling to identify what is true and to communicate with precision.

  • Similar figures (in 2D and 3D) have a variety of proportional relationships based on the scale factor.
